Billionaire Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has warned that new pandemics may be in the future that will be more dangerous than the COVID-19 pandemic and urged to prepare for them in advance.
Gates called on governments to think about the next pandemics and invest in innovative projects.
As for the billionaire himself, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, together with the UK-based Welcome Trust, plan to donate $300 million to the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
This money will be used to create a project that will minimally reduce the development time for vaccines against new potential viruses. However, the total cost of the project will be $3.5 billion.
Also, he added that new projects aimed at preparing for future pandemics could also be useful for addressing existing global health problems, such as vaccines for HIV and more effective drugs for tuberculosis and malaria.
However, the activities and intentions of Bill Gates were not gladly met by everyone, and since the beginning of the pandemic, he has become the protagonist of rumors about “conspiracy theories” that have spread around the world.
